Shadeland Avenue gets new Shade Trees!

New Hope and Global Impact along with the Western PA Conservancy, Brightwood Civic Organization,  Allegheny Youth Development and the City of Pittsburgh teamed up to plant 30 shade trees along Shadeland Avenue in April.  Fifty youth from New Hope, Allegheny Youth Development and Global Impact were involved in receiving instruction in tree planting and then forming teams to plant the 15-20 foot trees along the street.  Each tree weighed between 200 and 400 pounds so team work was a key component!  The trees now have leaves and are receiving weekly care to ensure their survival through the hot summer months.  In a few years there will be a lot more “Shade” on “Shadeland Avenue!”
